Last Minute Application Tips!. Grades and test ratings are crucial in the admission process; there is no doubt about this. But, themselves academically and who have performed well in school, we rely on the qualitative factors of the application to arrive at a decision while we are looking for students who have challenged. At this point within the process, senior high school seniors should focus their attention in the presentation components of the application: the essay, short answers, extracurricular tasks, and the letter of recommendation.

The Essay

The essay is just a student’s opportunity to tell us who they really are, maybe not only as a person but also as a student. The most effective essays are the most authentic essays. We are undoubtedly to know who our candidates are. The most readily useful advice I can give to students is to ‘be yourself’.

Quick Answers

They are called short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too quick of a answer. The short answers are taken very really within our review process. They give us valuable insight in to a student’s academic interest too as their commitments outside of the class.

Extracurricular Strategies

Our company is trying to find students who will probably be active members associated with USC community. I always recommend that students list any commitments they’ve outside of the classroom. Including clubs that are traditional recreations, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But it also includes, non-traditional activities such as taking care of siblings or other family members, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or climbing Everest.

Letter of suggestion

Pupils often feel they approach to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf like they do not have control over their letter of recommendations; yet, students do have control over whom. We require that at least one recommendation come from somebody who can discuss the student’s academic character and potential (i.e. Teacher or counselor).

Final Application Deadline Approaching

The christmas is upon us which also coincides with what we call file review season in our office. The December 1 merit scholarship deadline has passed at USC, however there is still time to apply by the January 10 last application deadline for first-year applicants.

Although January 10 may feel remote since it’s about a month away, now is the time that is best to put the finishing touches on your application, such as securing any final recommendation letters and achieving someone proofread your essay. This time of 12 months is supposed become relaxing and provide you with a break from learning and spending so much time in your classes. By taking care of any remaining college application details now, you can reward yourself with some time to actually enjoy your senior 12 months!

We value our time faraway from work during winter break, so our staff works difficult during the thirty days of December, as well. For those who have any concerns or concerns regarding the application or the admission process at USC, take a moment to reach out to the admission counselor whom works together with your high school. Our office is closed from December 22 through January 1, thus when you yourself have any questions, now could be the time to make contact with us.

Visiting Campus over the Holiday Break? No problem!

I invested part of my morning at USC’s bookstore while our file review system was temporarily down monday. In the midst of finding the exact size and item that I was looking to get as a xmas gift for a member of the family, I took an instant to pause and look around—the bookstore was extremely busy! We wondered the thing that shmoop.pro was going on and realized that not only are finals winding down this week, but students are getting ready to go homeward for the vacation break and were also doing some last-minute gift shopping. The bookstore might have been super crowded previously this week, but by this weekend, our campus will likely be mostly empty as the University closes for getaway break from December 22 January 1.

Also though the admission office will not be staffed over the break, prospective students and families are welcome to see campus and take their very own tour that is self-guided! We know that many visitors want to tour USC on weekends and in other cases of year when we don’t offer formal tours, thus we’ve produced the official USC Self-Guided Tour pamphlet for the college see needs! This resource follows the path that is same USC guides take on their tours also it includes a map and pictures of significant buildings and locations on campus as helpful information. As you go along, you’ll understand Campus Center that houses student offices and dining choices, academic buildings, and libraries such as Doheny Memorial Library, the oldest research library on campus. Similar to every trip led by our current students, the tour that is self-guided at the infamous statue of Tommy Trojan. Through the entire 12 months, it is possible to frequently see students, alumni, along with other visitors pictures that are taking front of Tommy, so don’t be shy to take one yourself!

Just What tour is complete without supplying information about the certain areas around campus and things to do in l . a .? Regarding the last page of the brochure, various local museums, restaurants, recreations venues, and shopping places are highlighted in case campus visitors want to explore areas off campus, aswell.

You are sure to get a sense of what our beautiful campus and the city of LA have to offer whether you see USC on your own or led by a tour guide. Benefit from the vacation break!
