The Essay

The essay is just a student’s opportunity to tell us who they really are, maybe not only as a person but also as a student. The most effective essays are the most authentic essays. We are undoubtedly to know who our candidates are. The most readily useful advice I can give to students is to ‘be yourself’.

Quick Answers

They are called short answers, buuuut they shouldn’t be too quick of a answer. The short answers are taken very really within our review process. They give us valuable insight in to a student’s academic interest too as their commitments outside of the class.

Extracurricular Strategies

Our company is trying to find students who will probably be active members associated with USC community. I always recommend that students list any commitments they’ve outside of the classroom. Including clubs that are traditional recreations, volunteer organizations, work experience etc. But it also includes, non-traditional activities such as taking care of siblings or other family members, productive hobbies like photography, marathon training or climbing Everest.

Letter of suggestion

Pupils often feel they approach to write a letter of recommendation on their behalf like they do not have control over their letter of recommendations; yet, students do have control over whom. We require that at least one recommendation come from somebody who can discuss the student’s academic character and potential (i.e. Teacher or counselor).

Final Application Deadline Approaching

The christmas is upon us which also coincides with what we call file review season in our office. The December 1 merit scholarship deadline has passed at USC, however there is still time to apply by the January 10 last application deadline for first-year applicants.

Although January 10 may feel remote since it’s about a month away, now is the time that is best to put the finishing touches on your application, such as securing any final recommendation letters and achieving someone proofread your essay. This time of 12 months is supposed become relaxing and provide you with a break from learning and spending so much time in your classes. I invested part of my morning at USC’s bookstore while our file review system was temporarily down monday.
